[ARCHIVED] Tropical Depression Nine Information

Severe Weather Alert - Tropical Depression Nine Expected 8-22-2023

Tropical Depression Nine Overview

City of Portland officials are communicating with the National Weather Center and National Hurricane Center as Tropical Depression Nine moves closer to land. Heavy rains and potential high wind gusts are expected to occur tomorrow (8/22). To monitor the storm, visit www.weather.gov/crp. We will provide additional updates, as needed.

Preparedness

  • Prepare your home for the winds and rainfall by moving all objects that may be picked up by the rain or wind that could cause damage
  • Place all valuable documents in protective containers so they do not get wet
  • Avoid driving during heavy rain. If you must go out, be aware of standing water on the roads - "turn around don't drown"
  • Move any outdoor pets indoors and ensure their identification tags are on
  • Monitor the storm

Republic Services Operation Plans

Republic Services plans to complete trash and recycling services tomorrow. To avoid damage to your waste cart(s), please do not set your carts tonight. Republic Services advises residents to set out their carts between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. tomorrow.
