I want to apply for a Police Officer position, which application do I use? 

Police Officer candidates must complete a Portland Police Department Application AND a Personal History Statement.  

I want to apply for a Fire Fighter position, which application do I use? 

Fire Fighter candidates must complete a Portland Fire Department Application.  

What are the requirements for Fire Fighters in Texas? 

You must have a commision fro the Texas Commission of Fire Protection. For more information: https://www.tcfp.texas.gov/services/new-fire-suppression-fighter 

I applied for a position, but have not heard back? 

Applicants that meet the minimum qualifications will be called by the hiring Director, or their designee, to schedule an interview. In some cases the process may be completed in a week. In other cases, the hiring process may take a longer period of time. Please also see the link JOB STATUS for updates.
