Library Card & Borrowing Privileges
Obtaining a Card

Library cards are issued free of charge to Texas residents. Proof of residence is required with each application. Cards for patrons under 17 years of age are issued only with the signature of a parent or legal guardian. Patrons must have a card with them in order to check out items.

Patrons may apply for a library card online however patrons must visit the library to pick up their library card and provide proof of identity and residence at that time as well.

Fines / Late Fees

All library materials are checked out free to cardholders. Any item not returned on time will incur a fine which must be paid before any additional material can be checked out by the patron. Fines will not exceed half the price of the item.

Fines are $0.05 per day with the exception of video materials, which are $1 per day. All items check out for 21 days with the exception of audio / visual and best sellers, which check out for 7 days.

To avoid late fees, patrons may renew items online or via telephone at (361) 777- 4560 during regular hours of operation to renew library materials. Items can only be renewed if there are no reserves pending on the item and only to the patron who originally checked out the materials.  Items can only be renewed twice.

Note: Responsibility for the reading, listening, viewing and borrowing of materials by children and young adults, as well as for their use of the library, rests with the parent or legal guardian.
