Wildlife Habitat Enhance Project
The City of Portland expanded the parking lot at Indian Point Park as part of the Indian Point Improvements Project. This expansion impacted a small area containing wildlife habitat. To mitigate the loss of this wildlife habitat, the City of Portland is creating new wildlife habitat in this area! To ensure our costal ecosystems continue to thrive, the new wildlife habitat mitigation area is approximately three times as large as the area impacted by the parking lot expansion area. This project is expected to take approximately 4-6 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
The parking lot expansion and the habitat mitigation projects were approved by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, Permit Number SWG-1997-01041.
