The Indian Point Park, Pavilion and Pier project is complete. Zachry Group and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, in conjunction with Gulf Coast Growth Ventures made a $2 million donation to the project, which was used to build the Pavilion, enhance the park with family-friendly amenities (i.e. picnic tables and grills), and expand the parking lot. Thanks to this donation, the Portland City Council was able to reallocate funds to make improvements to pier.
About the Project
The Indian Point Pavilion and Area improvements project initially included the demolition of the existing concessions building and the construction of an iconic shade structure, gathering spaces, food truck locations, and increased parking. While the park was closed, the City made several improvements to the pier, including:
- increased accessibility
- upgraded pier railing
- upgraded pier lighting
- added green fishing lights
- upgraded fish cleaning stations
As a reminder: The park, pavilion and pier are fully open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week now. As always, there is no charge to use these facilities.
