Small Business Administration offers disaster recovery assistance to individual homeowners, renters

At this week’s Portland City Council meeting, representatives from the Small Business Administration (SBA) conducted a presentation about how the SBA could help individuals, not just businesses, after Hurricane Harvey.

Most people associate the SBA with business loans. But in the aftermath of a disaster like Hurricane Harvey, the SBA partners with FEMA to provide low-interest loans to homeowners, especially those who need help meeting their deductibles or those who are underinsured.

Some KEY POINTS:

• There is no cost to apply and no obligation to accept any loan funds.

• Applicants don’t have to know how much they may need when they apply.

• They don’t have to wait for any insurance claims to fully settle.

If you think you may be interested in an SBA loan for physical damage related to Hurricane Harvey, please call the SBA Disaster Assistance Customer Service Center at 800.659.2955.

Businesses, private non-profit organizations, homeowners, and renters can apply online for an SBA low interest disaster recovery loan from the link below.

THE DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR A LOAN RELATED TO PHYSICAL DAMAGE FROM HARVEY IS TUESDAY, OCT. 24, 2017.
