Railroad Hike & Bike Trail Update

RailroadHikeBike 032917.jpg

Crews are working to complete the elevated bridge on the Railroad Hike & Bike trail connection located on the east side of town. There will be lots of activity this week as hollow-core panels used for bridge construction will be moved onto the site, along with construction cranes and other heavy equipment necessary to place the panels.

There are no road closures anticipated with this portion of the project; however, with so much large scale activity, drivers are advised to use caution in the area.

The anticipated schedule for the next couple of weeks is below. Please note that the schedule is subject to change, pending weather and other factors.

Anticipated Schedule:
First truck will deliver panels around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, two additional trucks will
arrive through the morning and early afternoon.

Note that cranes and other heavy equipment will be set up prior to delivery of the panels.

During the next few days, the panels will be grouted.

The topping slab is scheduled to be poured the week of April 10, likely early to mid-week.

When complete the bridge and associated trail connections will provide continuous access for pedestrians and bicyclist between Violet Andrews and Sunset Lake parks. Crews started the project in late November and construction should be complete by late spring.
